If you do not see a pet listed that you are interested in, please call or stop by the shelter, because we have over 300 amazing pets to choose from. Just can't put them all on this list!!

In order to communicate the life-enriching benefits of pet ownership among senior citizens, and to help homeless pets find loving homes, the Leesburg Humane Society has partnered with Purina in the Purina Pets for Seniors Program! With this program local senior citizens aged 60 and older can spend time visiting with the our adoptable dogs and cats and consider bringing a furry friend into their home!!

This wonderful program allows Seniors to recieve $50.00 off their adoption fee! So if a cat/kitten is adopted, they will be free of charge; And dogs/puppies will only be $10.00 at our shelter!!! So if you are a Senior Citizen looking for a loving companion or know of one that is, please stop by our shelter!!!

I'd like you to meet CAROL!!

Carol is the sweetest thing on earth!! She has so much personality, spunk, and love that you just can't get enough of!! We were laughing the entire time playing with her just because of everything she would do to get your attention. She was pulling on my husbands shoe strings so he couldn't leave and then would turn over with such an innocent face for the camera!!! It doesn't matter what she is playing with, as long as she is playing with you, Carol is happy!! She is a gorgeous dilute calico with beautiful eyes that will just captivate you! She was born on October 7, 2008 and is more then ready to go into a fun loving home.

I'd like you to also meet SMILEY!!!

Smiley will just make you smile!! He was name this, because that's all he does is Smile!! Will just brighten your day when you see him! He is an absolutely adorable, loving, affectionate, and the biggest sweetheart you will ever meet! We believe he is a hound mix and around 7 years of age. Smiley is just a joy around and is ready to go into a loving home!!

Our dogs love to sleep on Kuranda Dog beds, but we don't have enough for everyone. If you would like to donate a bed at a special wholesale price for a another dog to sleep in comfort, please click here.

Who We Are

The Leesburg Humane Society is a No Kill, Non-Profit Organization dedicated to rescuing and caring for abandoned pets and placing them in loving homes.

Adopting a friend
If you are interested in adopting any of our animals, you must sign a contract that you will not declaw the cats and that dogs must have a fenced in yard. We encourage you to you keep your pet inside due to Florida's excessive heat; unless certain cirumstances are understood between the shelter and owner.
Adoption Fees

$50.00 to adopt a kitten or cat
$60.00 to adopt a puppy or dog
This fee includes spay or neuter, all shots, and all test that need to be completed before adoption. All these services are provided through the Lake Veterinary Clinic in Mount Dora, FL by Dr. John H. Weber and his staff.
You will also recieve an Adoption Kit that includes coupons and helpful hints from our sponsors. Also with this you get a DVD on Training your new adopted animal made by Animal Planet and Petfinder.com!!

Please come by when you can. Please do not hesiate to call us at 352-669-3312 if you get turned around! The drive is a very nice scenic route and country drive, but well worth it to adopt one of these beautiful animals!!
